Wearing socks with dressy shoes like pumps or stiletto heeled sandals was another trend I saw last week on New York Fashion Week show-goers. This look was also seen in many street style photos (see below) last year during the shows for Fall 2014. At the time I thought the look was très chic but to be honest, that was probably because the wearer was either a model or in a setting where avant-garde fashion was expected to be seen. For most people, this trend could look more like you left the house half asleep or were in such a rush that you forgot to remove your socks. Either way, not really a great look for the average person in every day life. This season, however, I have to admit the socks with heels look is growing on me and I’m kind of loving it…

At the Hanley Mellon FW’15 Presentation last week, I met a show-goer working the trend (feet shown in first photo and full look below). Her look was elegant and refined with a pleated skirt and cardigan/cape. But with her ankle leggings and socks worn with pumps, the outfit was also effortlessly fashion-forward and subtly edgy with the simple detail of socks. I was inspired! 🙂
So, what do you think? Do you wear socks with pumps or sandals? If not, would you?
