Always on the lookout for unexpected ways to add a little whimsy or pop of color to my more understated outfits, I was immediately attracted to the patches trend that emerged on the fashion week runways several seasons ago. Fun, a little quirky and chock full of nostalgia for the ’90s, patches are an easy way to incorporate fashion’s current shift for more personalization and interesting detail. The best thing about patches this time around though is that they can be luxurious, and the ones with more whimsical designs are not limited to the kids… 🙂
So speaking of luxurious, I’ve been a fan of Anya Hindmarch‘s accessory line and currently I’m obsessed with her ‘All Over Stickers’ Collection. The clutch above is from this collection. Embossed onto the leather rather than applied as patches the designs are charming and light-hearted. On a small accessory like a clutch, they make a statement but in a more subtle way. Want to get more personal? Her collection also includes individual sticker patches that you can adhere to just about anything. Made of high-quality materials (and her design), they’re not cheap though…
If you need to stick to a budget and want a little DIY, you can also head over to MJ Trim for their patch collection. Although you can purchase online, I’d recommend a visit to their physical location in the garment district in NYC. Much more fun to see in person!
