Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: Shopping Strategy + Must Have Picks

Inspiring nostalgia for my childhood summers at the pool and of course because it’s summer now, this inflatable rose-gold flamingo (check it out, you’ll want one too!) is one of my top picks from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I’m kidding, but not really… I really want it. Unfortunately, I don’t have my own pool and the pool at our club doesn’t allow floaties or anything that makes going to the pool fun. Boo. Might get it anyway though… Have a pool?
Fortunately, there are many more items at the Anniversary Sale (#NSale) that are a bit more practical that I need, want or must have. Since the selection is so huge, this post will help you strategize for the sale as well as share some of my top picks…so far.
In case you weren’t familiar, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is an annual event when you can purchase brand new arrivals at discounted prices for a short period of time. At the end of the sale, all items return to their original prices. Early Access for Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale has started and is available to Nordstrom credit or debit card holders. Public Access to #NSale starts on July 22. All prices go back up on August 8
Strategy

1.

If there’s a clothing or shoe item that you need, anticipate needing or have been admiring, check for that item first. The good stuff sells out fast (I know from past experience!), especially in certain sizes. Since there’s free shipping and free returns, it doesn’t hurt to get it early on and return/exchange it if it doesn’t work.
I have been wanting to get a coat like the one above, so I bought this one online as soon as the sale started. Also love this white top from Frame. On-trend with ruffle and tie-neck detail, this type of top is always a wardrobe must-have as it is versatile. It can be dressed up or down, and is perfect on it’s own in warmer weather or layered under a blazer/jacket when it’s colder. In a neutral color, it can be worn with anything. Unfortunately, it’s already sold out in my size, but I will check back later.
TIP: As the sale continues, sold out items reappear if returns are made, so check back periodically.
2.

Check for beauty items/home accessories that you know you’ll be buying in the next year. Since these items don’t often go on sale, it’s best to take advantage of the discount when you can.

These are my Beauty Must-Haves right now. I love the nail polish colors of this Deborah Lippman set, and I know this is something I will use in the next year. I’ve been wanting a better hair dryer, so this T3 one will be perfect. Since it’s always a good idea to prevent wrinkles and premature aging, this skin rejuvenating pillowcase and a hand cream with spf has been on my wish list.

3.

Related to ‘Strategy 2’ above, gifts are another great thing to stock up on, especially housewarming gifts and last minute hostess gifts.

The Voluspa candles are also pretty decorative pieces that make a great hostess gift. Also love to gift a diffuser like this one from Antica Farmacista. These old-fashioned glasses etched in gold and this picnic basket are great gift ideas as well as items to add to your own wish list!

4. Now for the really fun part… Browse all the categories of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale to see if there’s something that you’ve missed or newly discovered.
