Travel: An Affordable and Stylish Hotel in NYC

Hope you’re all having a great holiday season! This is my favorite time of year, especially in New York City. Between the festive decorations, beautifully lit Christmas trees, pop-up gift markets, amazing store window displays and extra events, it’s an amazing time to be in and experience the city. If you don’t live nearby and wanted a more affordable hotel for your overnight stay in the city, there are options. One in particular is citizenM Hotel in Times Square. Have you heard of it or stayed there in another city? Relatively new to NYC, this hotel is a great option if you wanted an affordable hotel that is still stylish, but without all the frills that normally jack up the hotel fees.
I was first introduced to citizenM in October when I was invited to a cocktail mixology masterclass that was held at their rooftop ‘Cloud Bar’. After the event they gave us a tour of the hotel and I have to admit I was surprised by their unconventional yet very practical format. All the rooms are the same (no suites, etc.) with features such as a king-size bed, free wi-fi and free movies. The hotel is designed to feel like a home, so the lobby is set up like a living room with a “kitchen” where food is available 24 hours a day the way it may be in your own kitchen. Their mission: ‘to create affordable luxury for the people’. This hotel is not for everyone as the rooms are quite small and sparse for American expectations. But if your trip is short, you’re on a budget, or you’re just intrigued by the ‘living room’ concept; this is the perfect hotel for you. In the heart of the city, it is convenient, clean and provides the basic necessities for an overnight stay.

    Hi Josephina,

Bumped into your blog via Allie NYC *_^ It was that blogger's collective lunch post she did. It's nice to see light-minded bloggers actually meet up and catch up on things! Yes, like what Allie said, that's the best part of being a blogger, one gets to connect with other bloggers around town (for my case, it's around the world *_^)

I really love that "lobby" living room-look-alike space. Really nicely decorated and I must say I love your outfit combo there, especially the blazer and jeans, simple and chic. I think the concept is cool. It's almost like a home away from home (though I wish my home is that lovely)

Am not too sure how small you mean, by the size of the room, but granted that my hubby and myself stayed at a small hotel at HK once (really tiny, trust me! We bumped into one another more often than we hoped), I think this should be not a problem for us, haha! On the other hand, hard to say as we have two really "healthy chubby" growing teenage boys *_^

    Anyway, nice meeting you here.

    Cheers,
    Jeann from KL, Malaysia

      Hi Jeann,
Thanks for your comment and visiting my blog. All the rooms at the hotel have only one bed, so if you're traveling with teenagers, you would definitely need another room. If you ever stay there, would love to hear your thoughts!

      xo,
      Josephina

CitizenM Hotel is one of my favorite hotel is NYC. I was there 3 years ago with a friends of mina and we stayed at that hotel and it was amazing. When we booked it with reservationcounter.com it looked really great and at very good price. I guess nothing has changed.
