Nicholas K – New York Fashion Week SS’15

The Nicholas K fashion show was the first on my schedule for the Spring/Summer ’15 collections of New York Fashion Week, and it was powerful. Inspired by a trip to Morocco and Isabelle Eberhardt (a Swiss explorer who traveled the region in the late 1800’s), sibling design duo Nicholas and Christopher Kunz used safari, military, and goddess warrior influences/details to create a collection that was urban chic, edgy, and represented a strong woman.
The fabrics were mostly fluid, lightweight and layered which gave a feminine/soft yet protective appearance. The dominant colors were olive, black and khaki with some standout looks in white and charcoal. There was a definite utilitarian style to the looks which contrasted well with the lace-up heels. A collaboration between shoe designer Kiyoon Baek and Nicholas K, the shoes brilliantly added sexiness and femininity to some of the harder, more edgy looks.
The photo above and the ones below are my favorite of the collection…
Love the drape and fluidity of this all-white outfit (above), and how it is minimal yet so sophisticated.
Horsehair accessories by jewelry designer Victoria Simes added an element that was raw and fierce. Loved it!
Some close-ups…
It was a great start to #NYFW!
