With all this cold, snowy weather in New York, I’m ready to move on. So let’s talk about Spring…
For the past several seasons, many designers have been inspired by traditional athletic wear pieces (for example, sweatshirts, mesh tops, track pants, etc.). They recreate these pieces with luxe or higher end fabrics and detail, and rework the silhouettes to be more fashion forward/flattering. For Spring 2014, this sporty chic trend is even stronger and more popular across the brands. One of my favorite sport looks is a mesh or open-knit top. Love it for its layering options, its versatility, and its old-school athletic appeal.
Below are 4 Spring 2014 looks from 4 different designers (Elizabeth and James, Rag & Bone, Tom Ford, Gucci) which show the different ways designers re-interpreted the classic mesh top. From dressed up to conservative to a night out to casual, this style is as versatile as it is on-trend.

Jordan Taylor, Inc., a resort wear company based in NYC, recently gave me this wonderful black mesh, beach cover-up. I’m taking it on my vacation this week and definitely will be wearing it in the summer; but with the sport chic trend for this season and likely for at least a few more seasons coming up, I think I’ll be wearing it off the beach a little more than I’ll be wearing it on the beach!
