BB Cream – My first attempt!

At the Luckyfabb conference earlier this month, I attended a “Beauty Tips from the Pros” breakout session led by Olay Celebrity Make-Up Artist Bruce Grayson.  One of the make-up/skincare products that he strongly recommended was the use of BB(Blemish Balm) Creams.   In case you have not yet tried or heard of BB’s, BB Creams are an all-in-one beauty product that is intended to replace your moisturizer, primer, foundation, and SPF coverage for your face.  Furthermore, they claim to soothe sensitive skin, cover and lighten blemishes, have regenerative properties, and improve overall skin tone.  A miracle really…
So… I decided it’s time to give these creams a try.  Based on their claims(and huge popularity) how can I not?!
A couple of months ago, I received the Diorsnow BB Cream pictured above as a gift from a friend (was she trying to tell me something??  hmmm).  Since I historically have had acne prone skin, I was hesitant to try it.  For my skin, I tend to stick to the tried and true, and only make a change when absolutely necessary.  So I started out just putting it on certain “spotty” areas of my face and then blended my regular foundation/makeup routine on top.  If I broke out, at least the breakout would be contained.  After a few weeks, I didn’t see a difference so gave up altogether.
Today, motivated by my Luckyfabb recommendation, I applied it all over my face.  At first I found it was heavy, the color was off, and my pores around my nose were accentuated!  But now, after a few hours have passed, it actually looks better.  The color has blended in a bit and my skin looks a bit more dewy and refined.  I still don’t like the heavy feel of Diorsnow and the color is still not perfect, but I think I’m on to something.  Since using the BBCream completely simplified my skincare/make-up routine, I’m definitely going to research other brands and formulations.
Do you use a BB Cream?  Any Suggestions?

I do like BB Cream but I'm still a slave to DiorSkin Nude foundation. I'm mixed E.Asian so I have that yellow undertone & my colour is #031. I don't think 'western' BB Creams are great with our undertones + they're v much watered down versions of the Asian ones. I recommend you get some from yesstyle.com or a similar site and try the Korean brands! Skin79 & Missha are quite good xxx

I've read similar reviews on the Dior BB. I use the the Boscia and love it, its almost as if it "melts" into your skin, great consistency too!

I use the Skin79 BB cream (the pink one) and I like it. It does have a bit of a gray cast but it will go away after a few mins. That's the only one I've tried but I got it because there were so many good reviews on it. Btw, I've nominated you for a Liebster Award =)

I'm very minimalistic with my makeup routine since I don't like that heavy makeup feel either – it makes me feel weighed down and like I'm going to breakout instantly. However, I'm always up for trying new tips and tricks and I was bummed to miss this breakout session at Lucky FABB. I may have to give BB Creams a try myself.

So lovely meeting you at Lucky FABB!

    Josephina,

I love BB Creams for a daytime look especially Missha (did you get that in your swag bag) because of the high SPF! I haven't tried the Dior one, but I like that the SPF is 50! I have tried a lot of BB's but it's hard to find the perfect shade.

Hope all is well in NYC.
